Summer Query Workshop: Let's Work on those Query Letters and First Pages!
Well, my workshops at the beginning of the year sold out pretty quick, and were a total blast. And as summer gets closer, I thought I’d do another. Especially with the Philadelphia Bookstore Crawl looming, and how these events help pay for these things. But more on that in a second.
First, the workshop!
Join me for a three week workshop centered around polishing your query packet. I’ll dig into your query letter and your first ten pages, and leave you with what I hope will be a packet you’re excited to send out into the world.
This includes three Zooms (one on query letters, one on opening pages, and a last AMA with other industry pals), notes on your query, and notes on your ten pages.
May 5th, 8PM EST: We’ll talk query letters, what makes a good pitch.
May 19th, 8PM EST: Time to talk about opening pages. And, if anyone is brave enough, we’ll do some live critique of the query letters you’ve been working on. Won’t be able to do ALL of them, but we’ll see what we can check out.
June 2nd, 8PM EST: An evening of AMA! I’ll invite industry friends to come chat with us about querying, publishing, you name it. It’s a subjective business, and as right as I am about most things, it’s important to hear other folks.
Query letters and opening pages can be sent my way up until the last day of the workshop (but please, send them earlier!). And all the Zoom sessions are recorded, and available for at least a month to participants.
These workshops help fund my other free endeavors, and as you’ve likely seen on the ol’ social media, we’ve been doing some good things! Standing room only events at bookstores, bringing industry pros in from out of town, and more.
This will go towards our summer plans, as well as the Philadelphia Bookstore Crawl in August. Might even host a second workshop, if this sells out. We’ll see!
It’s $100, and you can register here, or via the link below. Thank you for helping me, and letting me help you.
